Standard Delivery Option

This option is the most common and lowest cost form of delivery. Your shavings will come on pallets in a freight van. You will then be responsible for all of the unloading once the truck driver opens the doors. Once the truck driver arrives you will have 2 hours to get the truck completely unloaded. After 2 hours most trucking companies charge $65.00 per hour detention time charge. This will be billed separate and due at the time of delivery.

Most farms put their shavings in hay lofts or they may be stacked in a storage area. There are many ways to unload a trailer. Here is a breakdown of the several ways you can unload the truck once it pulls into your facility.

ON AVERAGE, THE PROCESS TAKES ABOUT 2 HOURS, FARMS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY UNLOAD SHAVINGS LIKE THIS:

• Loading Dock and Forklift: This will require one forklift. Be careful because shavings are very top heavy and will fall over if you are not careful with your forklift driving skills. Make sure your forklift is designed to unload standard freight van trailers. Done properly this process should take no more than 1.5 hours and require one forklift operator. ***Your forklift must be rated to handle 2,000 pounds of weight.

• Forklift and Pallet Jack: Use the forklift from the ground to take the back 2 pallets out of the trailer. Put the pallet jack in the trailer and use it to roll the pallets to the back edge of the trailer where they can be removed by the forklift. Done properly this process should take no more than 2 hours and require 2 workers. One to run the forklift and one to operate the pallet jack.

• Forklift and Pull Strap: You will need a forklift and a 60 foot chain or strap. Open the doors and use the forklift to remove the back 2 pallets out of the trailer. Then hook the chain or strap to the middle rail under the pallet and gently pull it back with the forklift to the edge of the trailer where you can take it away with the forklift. Continue this process for the number of pallets. use extra caution when pulling pallets using equipment; this can be dangerous. Done properly this should take no more than 2 hours and require 2 workers.

• Pallet Jack and Manual Unload: Cut the shrink wrap on the rear pallets and un - stack the bags of shavings to where you need them to go. As you move further in the trailer use the pallet jack to move the pallets close to the rear of the trailer. This process requires a lot of labor; our recommendation is at least 3 laborers in the trailer and 2 to 3 in the area where you are storing your shavings. We also recommend rollers or a standard hay elevator to get the shavings close to the stacking area. Done properly this should take 2 hours to complete.

• Total Manual Unload: This will be a labor intensive process. Our recommendation is 3 or more people in the trailer and 3 in the storage area. This type of unloading should only be used as a last resort. Done properly it should take 2-3 hours. We only recommend ordering shavings on pallets when you have a forklift and/or a pallet jack. If you plan to manually unload, you should request more time allotted during the time of delivery. If you are unable to unload with the above options, we recommend our White Glove Service.

Full Service Delivery Option (Our White Glove Service)

With this service we coordinate the delivery and provide the labor to unload the shavings where you need them. This service works well for customers who have a busy schedule or who do not have the means to have a crew unload a tractor trailer.

Full service delivery is available in all areas but prices vary depending on how far our crews have to travel. Full service delivery charges may be built in to the cost of the shavings per bag or charged as a separate fee however you prefer.
